Job Description:
FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, Physics, to be responsible for pre- and post-award administration, including budget and proposal development, grant proposal submissions, monitoring expenditures, analyzing financial reports, reviewing/approving purchasing transactions, processing no-cost extensions, account close-outs, clearing suspense salary charges, and assisting faculty with maintaining compliance with federal guidelines and MIT policies and procedures. Will perform financial review and control (FRC) and prepare account projection reports; maintain monthly suite of reports monitoring the financial performance and activity of accounts; identify potential issues and provide possible solutions/strategies for long-term solutions; manage and set-up all awards, including child account creation, funding distribution requests, and working with principal investigators on purchase order monitoring and invoice approval; and handle other duties as requested.
Job Requirements:
REQUIRED: a bachelor s degree; a minimum of three years relevant financial experience; knowledge of federal research regulations; experience in academic programs and administration; attention to detail; strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills; demonstrated sound judgment in exercising confidentiality of sensitive information; customer service orientation; and excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Must be able to take initiative; perform hands-on work; meet short turn-around times; multitask; interact effectively with people at all levels; and work in a fast-paced, challenging, and team-based work environment. Knowledge of and experience with MIT financial systems and sponsored accounting especially helpful. Proficiency with SAP, Kuali Coeus, and electronic proposal submission software strongly preferred.
