Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs (Bow Seat)
is a Boston-based nonprofit that works to inspire the next generation of ocean caretakers through education and engagement with the arts, science, and advocacy. Bow Seat’s signature initiative – the annual Ocean Awareness Student Contest – challenges middle and high schoolers worldwide to explore human impacts on ocean health through visual art, film, poetry, prose, and music. Bow Seat also seeks opportunities to launch youth into the “artivist” world by expanding the reach of their work through exhibitions, publishing opportunities, and merchandise sales featuring their artwork. In addition, Bow Seat serves as an educational resource on ocean conservation and creative advocacy by presenting at conferences, participating in local and global environmental initiatives, and providing classroom resources.

Working closely with Bow Seat’s Program Director, the Coordinator will be responsible for supporting daily programming and outreach efforts. We are seeking an organized and creative individual with experience in program administration and communications, and who has a passion for marine science, environmental advocacy, arts education, or youth development. A collaborative mindset, people skills, and an ability to travel are a must, as well as the availability to work or travel on weekends occasionally.

Much of the Coordinator’s work can be done remotely, but the candidate must be able to meet weekly with the Bow Seat team in Westwood, Massachusetts. We are looking for a candidate who can make a 2+ year commitment to the position, with opportunity for growth to the role of full-time Project Manager if the position becomes available.
