The Academic Advisor is responsible for advising services to students individually and in groups. Guides students through degree requirementsAssists with course selection and referralMonitors student compliance with Oral Proficiency, Library Modules and Medical Terminology requirementsPrepares and maintains student advising filesMaintains records of individual and group advising sessionsProduces end of the year reports of student progressPresents at information sessionsAttends college functions, such as Open House and Accepted Students DayActs as a liaison to one of the schools, maintaining relationships with the academic programs within the schoolDevelops advising / career related workshops Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.Required: Minimum of a masters degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration or a related fieldCommitment to developing a diverse community of healthcare providersCommitment to teamwork and establishing working relationships across campus constituenciesExcellent interpersonal, written, oral and computer skillsDesired: One or more years of experience working in a postsecondary education setting MCPHS offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including a substantial health/dental insurance subsidy, generous holiday/vacation policy, and a significant pension plan contribution.
