AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM Instructor/Group Leader, at Ready Set Kids!

Essential Functions

Working under the supervision of the After School Director the Instructor will plan, instruct and participate in a variety of activities aimed at engaging students in enrichment, academic support, physical activities and social development learning objectives.
Assist with safe transportation of students from their schools to the Afterschool Program.
Supervise children attending the program and promote safety and respect amongst all participants.
Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere is maintained by developing appropriate strategies to support children in managing their behaviour.
Respond to the individual needs of children and establish stable and consistent relationships with each child.
Ensure that the health and safety needs of the children are met and all health and safety issues are dealt with immediately and appropriately.
Cleaning and tidying of the facility and ensuring the safe storage of equipment.
Report on a regular basis to Director or Assistant Director regarding issues of need and/or concern.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Passion for working with children

Preferred experience with children/youth

Organization skills for planning activities

Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment and organize time and workload effectively.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job including frequent standing, walking bending, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Ability to use various sports equipment used in program.

First Aid and CPR certification completed within 1 month of employment

Background CORI Check required

Required EEC qualifications for this position (minimum one year of working with school aged children), and complete required trainings within 1 month of hire

AT least 18 years of age

High school diploma required, some college preferred


Ten month program serving participants from September 2017 to June 2018 based on the Arlington Public School Calendar

Up to 25 hours a week, M-F on-site program, 2pm to 6pm and early release days 12:30-6PM (every Tuesday) and other early release days
