This summer KIC is looking for a new teaching specialist in visual art. The art teacher works one morning per week for four weeks, from July 10 - Aug 4. On those days, s/he will teach three 50-minute, back-to-back classes to groups of 30-35 children ranging from 1st-6th grade, divided by age (lesson plans can be similar for each group). Each group will have several teen support staff available to assist, allowing children to be divided into small groups if necessary. Lesson plans and projects are largely at the discretion of the teacher, but should have some connection to the annual camp theme. Previous projects have included collages, painted murals, glittered capes, cartoons, and more.

•School- or community-based experience teaching art to children or teenagers, preferably in an urban and multicultural setting
•Must be able to design thoroughly activity-driven lesson plans that are fun and adaptable for multiple age groups
•Ability to quickly build rapport with, engage, and manage large groups of children
•High level of enthusiasm for your subject area and for kids a must

Please email your resume and a brief cover letter detailing your interests and qualifications to the KIC program director at audrey.gutfreund@gmail.com.
