Walking is a major part of campus life, integral to the high quality of the educational and institutional experience. WalkBoston has assembled a group of experienced campus planners from Harvard, MIT, UMass Amherst, and MASCO to discuss how pedestrian networks work within a campus environment.
The panel discussion will touch on a range of design-oriented topics including the common use of shared pedestrian-vehicular pathways, as well as programmatic approaches to encourage and support walking on (and to) a campus. After a set of brief presentations, followed by a panel discussion, audience members will have the opportunity to pose questions to this group.
Panelists:
Sarah Hamilton, Vice President, Area Planning and Development, MASCO
Brown, Kelley, Senior Project Manager, Campus Planning + Design, MIT
Dennis Swinford, Director, Campus Planning Division, University of Massachusetts Amherst
