Adaptive Optics Associates, Inc., (AOA-Xinetics) a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) strategic business unit, is currently seeking a Business Development Manager to support its Image Metrology Business Area. AOA-Xinetics Image Metrology designs, develops, and produces precision measurement products for commercial industrial customers, U.S. Government, and U.S. defense prime and second-tier contractors. Markets for these products include transportation logistics, package handling, and semiconductor tools. Several potential direct and adjacent application areas also exist.
Qualified candidate will identify and implement business development projects relating to new products and/or industries, technologies, or services. Will also identify markets, licensing opportunities, and determine the feasibility of product development while performing economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities and/or business models. Will work with potential customers to determine their needs, and develop/disseminate information on a continuous basis to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of project goals and objectives.
The Business Development Manager will report directly to the AOA Image Metrology Business Area Manager. This position provides a broad, exciting leadership opportunity in a high-growth, strategically important businesses for NGAS. Specifically, the details of the position are the following:

Position Description:

Direct Responsibilities:

  • Performance measurement is 'bookings & awards' achieved.
  • Owner of business development within the AOA business area.
  • Promote products, identify and develop opportunities, assess competitors, evaluate funding availability, and service existing and potential new customers.
  • Work closely with and collaborate with the Business Area Manager, Program Managers and other technical personnel on quotes, proposals and in identifying teaming partners, resolving customer problems and developing business projections for assigned areas. Manage new business initiatives including; capture campaigns, requests for information responses, initial proposals and statements of work.
  • Establishes, coordinates and spearheads execution of key customer engagement plans.
  • Primary customer interface while encouraging and coordinating additional relationships between the customer and AOA Xinetics.
  • Will be the ‘Voice of the Customer’ within the AOA Xinetics organization.
  • Daily/weekly review of FEDBIZOPPS & equivalent sources. Required to complete initial vetting of opportunities.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, symposiums and shows.
  • Detail customer organizations including identification of Influencers and decision-makers.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive landscapes & any potential competitive pressures.
  • Executing preexisting corporate strategy & plans across the organization and relevant customers.
  • Ability to lead capture efforts including analysis of the RFP, initial schedule development and price proposal management.
  • In collaboration with the domain specific leadership teams and AOA management, assesses strategic business opportunities, establishes strategic plans, and leads/participates in pursuit planning and execution.
  • Establish internal and external relationships with employees, customers & target organizations.
  • Effectively communicate progress to customers, senior leadership and companywide audiences.
  • Assist in developing strategic plans and roadmaps, identifying required new capabilities, providing feedback on products, industry trends and customer needs, and fostering partnerships and teaming with key players to support successful proposal bids. Support Business Areas in the development of capture plans, win strategies, Price-to-Win and teaming approaches.
  • Works closely with AOA Xinetics leadership and compliance functions to ensure full compliance with Division, Corporate, and government policies.
  • Assist in the hiring of: Program, Product and Functional Engineering Managers, Engineers and other key positions within Business Area.

Working Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Position is located in the AOX Cambridge MA.
  • Travel to customer (military, industry) facilities and offices with limited international travel.
  • Travel multiple times per year (~50% business travel)
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of times and light physical effort required.
