Bottom Line is dedicated to helping low:income, first generation students get into college, graduate college, and go far in life. Our vision is to dramatically transform urban communities by producing thousands of new career:ready college graduates. As one of the first college support organizations to focus on completion, Bottom Line now produces best:in:class graduation rates that eliminate the significant gap between low:income students and their wealthier peers. We operate regional programs in Massachusetts, where we were founded in 1997, New York City and Chicago that collectively serve over 6000 students. We plan to open two new sites in major urban areas and double our footprint to 11,000 students by 2020. Bottom Line identifies students who have the desire and potential to earn a degree, but lack the support structures necessary to navigate the college application process, make a responsible school choice, succeed in college, and prepare for a meaningful career. Over the last 20 years, Bottom Line has developed a proven and proactive long:term, high:touch, high:impact model. Full:time, trained and specialized advisors leverage our DEAL model which addresses the four key areas that are most likely to lead to college success: Degree, Employability, Financial Aid, and Life. Our relationship and results focused approach helps our students change their lives by gaining economic mobility through college selection, graduation, and career:readiness. When you join Bottom Line, you will find a rewarding, fast:paced, results:oriented environment. We build strong relationships with our students and with each other. We take our work seriously, and we know that a focus on data and metrics is integral to our continued success. Experts in our fields, we are driven by our mission and we are extremely proud of the work we do. Bottom Line offers a comprehensive benefits package: Six years ago, Bottom Line began building and investing in additional programming designed specifically to improve employment outcomes (Go Far) for the students we serve. We were early to the understanding that, for the students we serve, having a four:year degree is not enough in todayA?s highly competitive job market. Each year, we have made incremental improvements to the Career program and many of our students are enjoying admirable employment outcomes. In keeping with our values of continuous improvement, we assessed our employability programming and student outcomes about a year ago. We came to the conclusion that we needed to (and could do) more to help more students enjoy strong employment outcomes. Working closely with a consultant, we have shifted our organizational focus to center on employment and designed a program and organizational structure that we believe will deliver impressive employment outcomes. While the new program is grounded in the core and proven components of the Bottom Line model (most particularly the one:to:one counselor:student relationship and proven curriculum), it calls for significant change :: from service delivery methods, to curriculum, to corporate partnerships, to hiring and training of counselor staff, to organizational design, and more. We have solid design specifications for what the new program and organization will look like and we are now excited to begin implementation. We seek to hire a full:time, experienced nonprofit manager to take this new program from design to implementation. The Director of Career Development must be a proven skilled manager and have significant experience designing and implementing new, operationally complex programming. This position also requires strong operational, project management, and people skills. This is a National position, reporting to the Chief Program Officer. The Director of Career Development will work closely with the National program team, program leadership in our current regions, career counselors, and regional development staff.
