Partners in Health is seeking a Laboratory Services Officer to provide laboratory technologist support in connection with the implementation and ongoing evaluation of laboratory services at PIH sites. Support laboratory operations, systems, and quality improvement initiatives; serve as advisor to laboratory technicians and work to assure laboratory standards are met. Understand and gain access to relevant tests and innovative laboratory tools. Coordinate partnerships in laboratory medicine and pathology to expand the scope and capacity of PIH's laboratory work. Support the achievement of high quality of laboratory services across PIH sites.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Laboratory Medicine, Immunology & Virology, Public Health, or a directly related field, plus five (5) years of relevant laboratory services experience. Experience must include some amount of:
- Prior work at international level in a resource limited settings such as Africa, Latin America, South East Asia, Central Asia, Former Soviet Republics
- Management and mentoring local, national, and transnational laboratory staff
- Fundraising, interacting with donors, writing grant applications
- Project and grant management
- Familiarity with laboratory regulatory processes such as ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 on GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) and Laboratory accreditation
- Prior work with industry to gain access to relevant tests and innovative laboratory tools
- Coordination of cross-site learning toward achieving high quality standard of laboratory services
- Experience with supply chain and logistics to support lab operations
- Documented experience in the following areas:
o Tuberculosis tests including Gene xpert, solid media drug sensitivity testing to first and second line drugs
o Biosafety
o Use of technologies to determine HIV viral load
o Use of electronic laboratory information systems
o HIV and Malaria diagnostic methods
o Methods for quality management systems
o Laboratory Accreditation

Travel Requirement: Up to 30% international travel required to PIH locations in Haiti, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Malawi and Liberia to assess laboratory capacity and support lab teams towards achieving programmatic goals and raising standards of care.
