Acceleron is a Cambridge-based, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development, and commercialization of therapeutics to treat serious and rare diseases. Acceleron focuses its research and development efforts in hematologic, neuromuscular, and pulmonary diseases. In hematology, the Company and its global collaboration partner, Celgene, are developing luspatercept for the treatment of chronic anemia in myelodysplastic syndromes, beta-thalassemia, and myelofibrosis. Acceleron is also advancing its neuromuscular franchise with two distinct Myostatin+ agents, ACE-083 and ACE-2494, and a pulmonary program with a Phase 2 trial of sotatercept planned in pulmonary arterial hypertension.

You will use your assay development expertise to support our efforts in the therapeutic area of pulmonary hypertension.

What will you be doing?

• Working closely with group members to contribute to in vivo model systems and techniques to evaluate efficacy and mechanism of action of protein therapeutic agents
• Conducting experiments to support research projects in related therapeutic areas
• Working with cross functional drug development group to bring research stage molecules to clinical development
• Independently reviewing current scientific literature for advances in hypertension and related fields
• Attending and contributing to team meetings
• Maintaining sustained lines of communication across research teams

Job Requirements

• B.S. or equivalent degree in cell biology or related field, with a minimum of 3 years of experience
• Excellent rodent handling skills
• Prior experience using in vivo models to study pulmonary or cardiorenal disease as well as hands-on experience in cardiac and vascular catheterization would be a plus
• Prior experience in conducting experiments to evaluate drug efficacy, including measuring hemodynamic parameters and understanding mechanism of action of potential therapeutic agents
• Experience with phenotypic testing, histology, IHC and protein expression analysis is required
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet project deadlines and flexibility to react quickly to changing research needs
• Experience in other hypertension models and a willingness to learn about additional models
• Desire to be hands-on in the lab as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and team-based environment
• Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills?
