Provides assistance to faculty and research staff in the collection, management, analysis and interpretation of biological data, with a focus on the analysis of data from genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, or microarray studies.Duties and Responsibilities:A computationally:oriented laboratory led by Rameen Beroukhim at the Dana:Farber Cancer Institute seeks a bioinformatics engineer to join in efforts to develop and apply cutting:edge genomic technologies to determine optimal treatment strategies for patients with brain and other cancers. This research associate will be involved in cross:disciplinary efforts to generate large datasets describing genetic mutations in thousands of tumors and to develop and apply sophisticated statistical and computational approaches to analyzing these data. The aim of these efforts will be to characterize mutations that cause various types of cancer and to determine how to treat patients with these cancers. The ideal candidate will have extensive programming ability, strong analytical skills and solid background in mathematics and statistics with a deep interest and background in biology. The ability to collaborate closely with other members of a research team is essential.
