Responsibilities

As member of the Verizon Enterprise Services security team, the Red Team Consultant will supplement the Red Team function at one of Verizon’s premier security customers. In this role, the Red Team Consultant will work under the guidance of a Customer resource to perform penetration testing on our client’s network infrastructure, systems and applications in support of Red Team / Blue Team efforts.

You will deliver Red Team testing related activities ranging from initial project kick-off through project close-out. These engagements range from small to medium and sometimes long-term engagements requiring varied interpersonal and technical skills. Technical responsibilities include the following:

  • Penetration Testing (main focus on Infrastructure).
  • Application Vulnerability Assessment.
  • Wireless Vulnerability Assessment.
  • Security Audit and Assessment.
  • Support of Red Team / Blue Team functions.

Qualifications

Must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant experience.

  • Willingness to travel to travel for several weeks at a time with weekends home, travel typically stays below 25%.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Strong demonstrated ability to take vulnerabilities and articulate the actual business risk along with good reporting writing and client presentation skills.

  • Curiosity about new technology and the possibilities it creates.

  • Five or more years of experience in performing penetration testing and/or Red Team activities in a consultative manner. Red Team Testing Services that will be performed by our Security Consultant – Red Team role are:

    • Penetration Testing (main focus on Infrastructure).
    • Application Vulnerability Assessment.
    • Wireless Vulnerability Assessment.
    • Security Audit and Assessment.
    • Support of Red Team / Blue Team functions.
  • O&M / System Administration experience and background, preferably with a broad technology footprint.
  • Exposure to Engineering and Architecture, preferably having engineered or architected in Interconnected Systems environment.
  • Thorough understanding of how Threat Actors operate and manners in which controls can be subverted.
  • Based on the type of system, demonstrated ability to work through an intermediary actor who can execute commands and gather information on your behalf.
  • Strong verbal, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated Ability to work independently as an individual contributor with minimal supervision.
  • Strong leadership and customer facing skills.
  • Development with scripting languages and coding experience.
  • Threat Intelligence background would be considered an advantage.
  • Consulting experience within a Professional Services organization.
  • Experience working in or knowledge of Financial Services industry.
  • Industry certification(s) such as CEH, OCSP, GPEN, and CEPT.
