Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented and self:motivated Sr. Robotics Engineer for the Advanced Robotics Manipulation group to help create new automation solutions that improve overall system efficiencies through the use of advanced technologies. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with theoretical approaches and practical implementations of robotic manipulation techniques for task automation. This position reports directly to the Director of Robotics. The Robotic Manipulation Engineer will be responsible for: Establishing technology roadmaps and developing strategies and project:level tactics for advancing the state:of:the:art in AR productsDeveloping novel algorithms and technology platforms that can be broadly applied to a variety of advanced robotic applicationsDesigning and implementing advanced manipulation techniques and installationsIntegrating planning with perception and application teamsEvaluating and identifying improvements to system designsMaintaining high level of communications with cross:functional team, and partnersInterfacing with engineering managers, product management, and/or program management to drive new product development programs from concept to productionBS Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (advanced degree strongly preferred)Minimum of 7 yearsA? experience developing robotic applicationsExpert in machine vision techniques; deep experience with robotic applicationsExperience implementing machine learning algorithms and approachesAbility to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective waysDemonstrated ability to develop deep understanding of the business and end user needs quickly, and can proficiently translate those needs into the right technology solutionAble to provide the customer and company:wide perspective to detailed technical decisionsExcellent written (white papers) and oral communication skillsRobot Operating System (ROS)Embedded control systems, mechanical, and electrical design and development practices including common engineering tools used for such efforts with detailed knowledge and expertise in at least one of the areasEquipment control, coordination, and managementMySQL databases and Python programmingSource control, code reviews, and bug tracking systemsFamiliarity with the state of the art in cameras, lighting technologiesChallenging assignments with aggressive schedulesAutomated build and test and/or test driven developmentBig Data
