Senior EHS Specialist
About the role:
Under the general direction of the site Facilities Manager this position conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Supports and reinforces the importance of Environment, Health and Safety in the organization. Implements strategies, policies and practices for the overall Environment, Health and Safety program. Works with plant senior management team to integrate Environment, Health and Safety performance into plant operations. Drives continuous improvement in Environment, Health and Safety performance, while assuring comprehensive operational compliance. Work is usually independently performed with general instructions as to the objectives expected; receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and managerial approval on proposed plans for projects
Your responsibilities include:
:Develops, maintains, and reviews the EH and S program to ensure compliance with current and future legal, regulatory and corporate requirements.
:Proactively identifies and promptly addresses EH and S issues which may affect operations or may provide strategic advantage to the business and provides input for management review meetings.
:Establishes and tracks metrics for assessing EH and S effectiveness in the organization, including the OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), the OSHA Lost/Restricted Worktime Rate (LWR) and ISO 14001 environmental performance goals.
:Develops and executes a plan to reduce worker injury and lost time rates.
:Maintains an appropriate EH and S culture through cross:functional cooperation, communications, promotions and training including employee training on EH and S procedures, industrial hygiene activities, safety surveys, review and revision of local procedures, and serving as a coordinator member of the emergency response team.
:Responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the Environmental Management System. (ISO 14001).
:Responsible for appropriate procedures, approvals, coordination and control of hazardous, regulated and solid wastes.
:Maintains all EH and S regulatory reporting requirements.
:Responsible for emergency planning and takes leadership role in EH and S emergency situations. Ensures that adequate evacuation and response arrangements are in place for fire, accidents and all other emergency situations.
:Works in partnership with other Boston Scientific EH and S professionals to establish or adopt company demonstrated best practices relevant to our industry.
:Initiates, conducts and maintains records of safety training for company.
What we're looking for in you:
Minimum Requirements
:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Safety Management or related degree
:At least 5 years in EHS field
:Experience in warehouse/distribution, manufacturing and/or industrial setting
:Ability to work with cross:functional groups and manage programs that impact the entire site
:Computer skills including MS Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
:Experience in compiling and leading training exercises for groups of employees
Preferred Requirements
:Experience in warehouse/distribution, manufacturing and/or industrial setting
:Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
