When the Watson family travels from Flint, Michigan to Birmingham, Alabama to drop off their juvenile delinquent son at his grandmother's for the summer, their arrival coincides with one of the darkest chapters of the Civil Rights movement --the bombing of Sixteenth Street Baptist Church at 10:22 am on Sunday September 15th, 1963 and the deaths of four little girls who were in the church, preparing to sing.
